Young leaders programme 2022-2024

The partnership between NECPT and Leading Link has allowed the expansion of the Young Leader program beyond Northumberland, establishing a group in North of Tyne while maintaining the original group. This collaboration has facilitated joint projects, as well as localized work within schools, enhancing opportunities not usually available through regular schooling.

Through NECPT’s funding, Young Leaders have managed after-school activities in local primary schools, including unique offerings like glow-in-the-dark sports, archery, and arts and crafts. They’ve developed crucial skills in planning, risk assessment, health and safety, and budget management. The program also benefits primary schools by providing resources they normally lack.

Additionally, the funding has enabled Young Leaders to attend residential trips, gaining valuable skills and enjoying recreational activities. For instance, a recent trip included working at Humbleswood Farm and participating in Leading Link’s ‘Hub Takeovers,’ where they managed a local hub, providing activities and addressing community issues.
This funding has significantly shaped the Young Leader program, offering life skills and decision-making abilities valuable for adulthood and professional life.
