What is next for NECPT
NECPT has embarked on a review of strategy to enable activity to continue beyond the present grant funding period.
Our prime strategic objective is to align with North East Child Poverty Commission’s priorities. NECPC has developed a child poverty strategy ‘No times to wait’ for the region launched in February 2024.
With our current and future partners, we want to undertake practical programmes to support social change.
In May 2024 the North East Mayoral Combined Authority was formed, whose statutory framework includes the objective of tackling child poverty. This represents an opportunity to secure a new focus on the issue.
We are also looking to engage with community-based organisations in Teesside to see whether any of the learning from our current partnership work can help support further local initiatives in the area.
